En Primeur
It looks like Château Mouton Rothschild is the cream of the 2006 Bordeaux crop, with the legendary Robert Parker, no less, ranking it as one of the finest since the monumental 1982 and 1986 vintages. Whilst Château Mouton is undoubtedly the wine of the vintage, Château Lafite Rothschild has also won the critics’ plaudits, maintaining the quality expected from a wine of its breeding. Most experts agree that overall 2006 is a classic Bordeaux vintage with finely-structured, balanced wines, at prices thankfully significantly lower than the dizzy heights reached with the exceptional 2005 vintage.
So we’re delighted that, thanks to our unique Rothschild family links, we have managed once again to secure an allocation of Château Lafite Rothschild and Château Mouton Rothschild at en primeur or opening prices. Buying en primeur secures a wine at the initial release price: some wines are subsequently seldom available commercially and most will be more expensive if bought later on. Buyers are also assured of provenance and can even choose bottle sizes (half, magnums, double magnums or imperials).
