Grands Vins
There are only five first growth wines in the world, and Waddesdon offers two of them: Château Lafite Rothschild, perhaps the most famous of all, and Château Mouton Rothschild which sensationally achieved its status in 1973 (the other four were recognised in the 1855 Bordeaux classification).
Lafite is a stylish wine with great elegance and finesse rather than power. Subtle oak flavours blend with spices and flowers to produce a soft, velvety wine.
Mouton has outstanding intensity of fruit, concentrated flavour and lingering aftertaste, and is also distinguished by its labels, created each year since the Second World War by a contemporary artist (Picasso, Bacon and Dali among them).
